Placing a Child for Adoption

If you are considering placing a child for adoption we can help.  Whether you need information via our websites, from us directly by phone or email, or would like to place your child through our agency, we are here for you any time of the day or night. We care about you and your child.  We want to help.

Getting Started with Adoption

Before you even start any adoption process, the most important thing is to take good care of yourself and your baby. Start prenatal care as soon as possible. If you need help finding a physician or midwife for prenatal care, let us know and we will help you find one.

Now ...about adoption.

Move ahead at your own pace and make sure the placement and adoption are handled in a way in which you are comfortable. Remember, it is your baby and you have all the choices, so take your time.  If anyone ever pressures you or want to immediately send you family profiles, just end your conversation with them and move on. Do not worry about them. Your only concern is to see that your needs and your baby's needs are taken care of.

Based on over 40 years of experience, I advise you not to answer newspaper ads, adopting family internet ads, deal with an adoption facilitator, or deal directly with the adopting family or their attorney. All of these are private adoptions and they can be very risky. In fact, they can be such a problem that in many states private adoptions are not legal.

You should stick with a licensed non-profit adoption agency.  Contact us or another non-profit adoption agency to help you. Whether it is our agency or some other program, the agency can help you and protect you and your child. You will still be in charge and can make as many or as few decisions as you want, but the agency can help you avoid the problems you can face in a private adoption.

Adoption Services: An Agency to Help You

Adoption Services is a licensed, full service, non-profit adoption agency that will provide you with all the ongoing assistance needed every step of the way and help you, for as long as it takes, from beginning to end.

Adoption Services can help you no matter what state you live in or even if you are living in a foreign country.  We can help you whether you are 1 week or 9 months into your pregnancy, whether you have had or not had prenatal care, and even if your baby has already been born. We place newborns and children of all racial and ethnic backgrounds up to approximately 4 years of age.  And we place directly with the approved adopting family--there is no temporary home or foster care involved in our Agency placements.

We can help you with an open or closed child adoption, and any variation of these. You can make the decisions about what kind of adoption to have or you can ask us to make these decisions for you.

We are available when you need us. In addition to normal business hours we are available to assist you on evenings, weekends, and holidays – 7 days a week, 52 weeks a year.

Our toll-free phone # (800-943-0400) rings into my (Dr. Berger) home at night and on weekends and holidays, so you can call anytime. You may get the answering machine if I have stepped out or have gone to bed. But, if it is urgent, you can page me regardless of the time of day or night.
